This QLD Government agency that specialises in the protection of QLD residents is currently looking at improving and reducing the risk within their ICT environment. The agency has is also exploring the possibility of PaaS and SaaS as well as other solutions to streamline core operational processes and IaaS to migrate corporate ownership. This organisation is currently in only in early start up and initiation phase of the project therefore is currently seeking an experienced Network Engineer to supplement their team during by supporting the existing network and deploying new technologies. The contract will be for an initial 6 month project.

The role of the Network Engineer will be responsible for managing the IT infrastructure, supporting/managing cloud environments and working closely with internal customers to resolve technical issues and implement solutions. Your duties will include but will not be limited to :

  • Timely support of IT network WANs, routers, switches, proxy servers and firewalls through maintenance, upgrades and installations including:
    • Level 2 and Level 3 support
    • Capacity planning
    • Patching management
  • Following ITIL practices
  • assisting in the development and maintenance of the organisations cloud services (O365 and Azure).
  • Providing support out-of-hours for scheduled outages and incident response

To be considered for this role, you must be an experienced Network Engineer with over 4 years experience in Level 2 and Level 3 support in a medium sized organisation as well as:

  • demonstrated experience ensuring network security
  • demonstrated experience network engineering and monitoring
  • hands on experience with datacentre technologies
  • solid understanding of ITIL
  • experience with routing and switches protocols
  • strong understanding of TCP/IP protocols
  • relevant vendor or industry certifications such as ITIL, Cisco, HP, VMware, Microsoft, Palo Alto

The approximate start date after background checks is early January 2019, 6 month contract with potential for extension.
